2020
- A new collection has joined Manifestipolitici.it: the collection of the Fondazione Archivio Luigi Nono Onlus (Venice) that preserves, protects and enhances the sources related to the work of Luigi Nono (1924-1990), a collection now present in the catalogue with a set of political manifestos from Nono's private collection.
Between 2019 and 2020 the collaboration established with the L. Nono Archive Foundation saw the Gramsci Foundation Emilia-Romagna entrusted with the task of cataloguing, in the library pole to which the Nono Foundation belongs (Polo di Venezia, VEA-SBN), a precious set of posters present in the composer's rich and boundless archive: Italian and foreign posters relating to Luigi Nono's concert, theatre and training activities and his personal collection of purely political posters. Subsequently, only the very original and largely rare political communication and propaganda posters became part of the Manifestipolitici.it database: 262 posters, mostly from abroad (Germany, Spain, Portugal, Cuba, Venezuela, Uruguay, Mexico, Chile).
- The catalogue was thus enriched again in 2020: a total of 281 new documents, including posters and flyers, were added, as always with description, semantic indexing (subjectification) and insertion of images.
- Finally, 527 political leaflets were digitised, chosen from those produced and circulated in the years 1973-1989; as usual, high-resolution files were created for preservation (tiff) and files for online consultation (jpeg), preparatory actions for future cataloguing in this database.
2019
- In 2019, 626 new documents were catalogued in this data bank ((posters and leaflets with description, semantic indexation, and images). In particular:
- 368 in the “Fondazione Gramsci ER” collection
- 20 from the “Digital Collection”
- 228 in the “Istituto Gramsci Marche” collection. They were uploaded by the Gramsci Institute Marche itself.
- 100 posters were digitalized. This is a necessary step toward their cataloguing in Manifestipolitici.it. In particular, 55 posters donated by Guido Gambetta and Pietro Rossini were scanned, as well as other posters from the historical collection of the Foundation (12.500 posters circa) and from the collection donated by the Centro Studio Donati in Bologna (more than 1000 posters). Priority was given to the documents of the 1960s and 1970s.
- 48 leaflets, chosen from the ones produced between 2008 and 2019, were digitalized.
- As always, the research and purchase activity were carried out, in particular during the European elections in May 2019.
- Within the co-operation established in 2018 with the Fondazione Luigi Nono (Venice) -which preserves Luigi Nono’s works- the Fondazione Gramsci ER catalogued posters included in the vast archive of Luigi Nono (Italian and foreign-made posters related to politics and to the concert activity of L. Nono). They were catalogued on Polo VEA-SBN, a local Library Service.
Thus, in 2019 314 posters became available on Polo VEA-SBN and on the Catalogue of the National Library Service. In 2020, other 46 posters, which have been found revently in the Archive of the Foundation L. Nono, will be uploaded on the catalogue of the Venetian Library Service.
After that, in concert with the Foundation L. Nono, more than 200 rare political-propaganda posters will be uploaded also on this data bank, Manifestipolitici.it.
2018
In 2018, 220 new documents were catalogued and uploaded on Manifestipolitici.it:
a) 15 rare Italian and Cuban posters of the 1970s, stored in the Paolo Betti- Lea Giaccaglia Archive;
b) 105 historical posters (period: 1945-1970) which the Foundation keep stored on slides;
c) 100 political and social postcards, from the collection donated to the Gramsci Foundation by Luigi Arbizzani.
55 new posters, produced in the ‘60s and ‘70s, were donated by the Rossini family and by Guido Gambetta. Furthermore, more than 300 posters (period: 1945-1970), which the Foundation keep stored on slides, were digitalized.
Lastly, two collaborations were established:
- 110 images of posters uploaded on Manifestipolitici.it were given to the new M9-Museum900 (Mestre) of the Venice Foundation, a “new, international cultural hub” which aims at showing the History of the “Short Century” through a collection of physical, digital and multimedial materials (6.000 photos, 60 interactive installations, 820 videos, 400 audio tracks and posters). This fruitful collaboration could be also carried on in the future;
- In Autumn 2018 a co-operation with the Foundation Luigi Nono (Venice) was established. This Foundation preserves the works of Luigi Nono (1924-1990). In its vast archive there are some Italian and foreign political posters (200 circa) that could be uploaded on Manifestipolitici.it.
2017
100 leaflets that come from the Archivio del Pci (Archive of Italian Communist Party), Triumvirato insurrezionale Emilia-Romagna are now available for consultation. They were produced in Bologna during the Resistance in 1944-1945 by Gruppi di Difesa della Donna (Women’s Defence Groups), the Italian Communist Party (PCI), the Italian Socialist Party of Proletarian Unity (PSIUP), National Liberation Committee (CNL) of Bologna, Comando regionale del Corpo Volontari della Libertà Emilia-Romagna (Regional Command of the Volunteers for the Freedom of Emilia-Romagna), Front of the Communist Youth (Bologna).

LUCIANO CASALI’S COLLECTION
500 clandestine political documents, dated 1920-1945, were catalogued. They were donated to the Gramsci Foundation ER by prof. Luciano Casali and they show propaganda activities of the political and military organizations in Emilia-Romagna and during the Spanish War. 380 of these leaflets and posters were digitalized and uploaded on this data bank., the others were uploaded in the catalogue of the Library.
You can find these documents in both catalogues by writing “Raccolta Luciano Casali” in the blank “Ricerca Libera”. The cataloguing of the collection was carried out within the project “La Resistenza nelle carte: le nuove fonti storiche della Fondazione Gramsci Emilia-Romagna” (The Resistance in the posters: the new historical sources of the Gramsci Foundation Emilia-Romagna), funded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and included in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Resistance and the Liberation War.
